Soundtrack - thoughts for a score
For the beginning I thought to add tension I could use a score that builds up and is quite creepy.
the track lasts 2 mins 10 seconds. I think the gradual build up is perfect for our title sequence.

Soundtrack Research
Here are some famous movie soundtracks from different thriller films. We looked at them to get get an idea on what type of soundtrack we want to use in our title sequence of a thriller film.
Looking at different soundtracks of famous thriller films we noticed that they weren't a good fit to our type of thriller, since we were looking at a horror-thriller rather than the ones shown.
Then we looked at the Shutter Island soundtrack and found the subtle build up and not so much focus on a melody was more creepy.
Looking at the thriller horror genre, we looked at the soundtrack to the opening of "Donnie Darko" (2001). We were captured by the build up and the use of bass to create a sense of fear. The genre was obviously established by the sound and you are encouraged to watch the rest of the Film. The opening didn't make much sense but it left an enigma and the music ended and faded as did the picture.

Storyboard - Old Boy (2003)
Here is a storyboard I have done during class time whilst watching the opening sequence of Old Boy (2003). I have done this storyboard so I know what type of shots are in an opening sequence, also for the reason that it will help me understand better what type of shots I need to have in my opening sequence.
In-Depth Interviews
For our audience research I went and asked two participants from our target audience a range of questions verbally, I then asked them to fill in the sheet with their answers. The questions were:
- How often do you watch films?
- What is your favourite film genre and why?
- What is your least favourite film genre and why?
- How do you find out about thriller films, and what is the first thing that comes across your mind?
- What is your favourite thriller film sub-genre and why?
- What is your least favourite thriller film sub-genre and why?
- What do you think is the most interesting thing about thriller films and why?
- What do you expect to see in your favourite thriller film genre and why?
- What do you expect to see more of in your favourite thriller film sub-genre and why?
- Do you have a favourite actor/actress that you would like to see in your favourite thriller film genre and why?
- Where do you watch thriller films most often and why?
As a group we agreed to ask these 11 questions because it would enable us to find out more about thriller films, also it would help us to find out more about particular thriller film genres and what makes them compelling to watch. These interviews were very helpful as they gave us a greater insight into what our target audience think about thriller films.

Possessed Children
We have chosen to use possessed children in the opening to our thriller film; possessed means to be influenced or controlled by a powerful force such as an emotion. We have chosen to do this because children being possessed is in our eyes more terrifying than an adult being possessed as it is more gruesome and scandalous. This overwhelming and almighty force which cannot be controlled adds tension and makes our audience fear the little girl/s that appear in our opening, they don't want to know what is going to happen next - but the audience pleasure of escapism makes them continue watching. I edited this montage of images on photoshop to make the images more sinister and eerie.

Mood Board, Final Idea
Here is a mood board I have made for our new and improved final idea. All of the pictures on the mood board in some way represent part of what happens in our opening sequence to a thriller film. I found these images on google and then after selecting the specific images I wanted I then went on to edit them on photoshop - I think this mood board represents our opening sequence well and shows what type of thriller film we are trying to make.

1st Final Idea
We have had some problems with this final idea, the idea for the end part of our opening to a thriller film would not work because it appeared to be to cliché as it had been done time and time again. For this reason we are still going to use all of the filming we have done for the first part of our first final idea, and we will edit it up until the point we have filmed (which was were the two teenage girls were mimicking the main actress). We thought that it was better to completely change our final idea so everything flowed together well, and so that our idea was unique and individual - and stands out from everyone else's.

Photo Shoot - Mood Board, 1st Final Idea
Here are some photographs from the photo shoot which we took of our main model. We chose to put her in two different outfits for a variety of reasons. The first outfit was a dark blue dress which is floaty and free, symbolizing her innocence and beauty. We also chose to put our model in a shorter black dress for the reason that we wanted some photographs of her where she looked older and more regal. Overall the photo shoot went very well, with Robbie as the photographer and me J'Nae as the director, we achieved our desired result and produced some excellent photographs.
